U-PVC Solvent-Weld Bellmouth Pipe

What Is a Solvent-Weld Bellmouth Pipe and How Is It Joined?

A solvent-weld bellmouth pipe is a U-PVC clean water pressure pipe with one widened, bell-shaped socket end that is bonded permanently to the next pipe with special PVC adhesive. Düzgünler Plastik makes it in 17 sizes from Ø32 to Ø400, in PN 4, 6, 10 and 16 pressure classes, in grey.

It is chosen for clean water lines that will not be taken apart and need a permanent, leak-tight joint.

How Is a Solvent-Weld Bellmouth Pipe Bonded?

Short answer: PVC adhesive goes on the plain pipe end and inside the socket, the pipe is pushed in, and the joint is left to cure. The adhesive fuses the two surfaces, so the joint behaves like one piece.

  • 1. Clean and dry: No dust, oil or moisture on the surfaces.

  • 2. Apply adhesive: Spread it evenly on the pipe end and inside the socket.

  • 3. Push and wait: Push the pipe into the socket; before pressurizing, wait the curing time given by the adhesive maker.

What Are the Sizes and Wall Thicknesses?

Wall thicknesses come from the official product table. Pipe length runs from 609 to 622 cm depending on size.

Is Every Pressure Class Made in Every Size?

No. Ø32 is made only as PN10 PVC pipe and PN16 PVC pipe. PN 4 is available from Ø50 to Ø280; at Ø315 and above, the lowest class is PN 6.

Solvent Weld PVC Pipe or Push-Fit Bellmouth Pipe?

  • Pro of solvent weld: The joint is permanent; pipe and socket bond like one piece.

  • Con of solvent weld: You wait for curing, and the joint cannot be taken apart.

  • Pro of push-fit: No adhesive; installation is faster.

  • Con of push-fit: The pipe end and socket must be clean and well aligned.

Choose solvent weld when the line will stay in place; choose push-fit when laying speed comes first.
